Neko Atsume is a cat collector game where you buy items for cats to play with or use. My friend told me that a girl in her class had it and I figured I would check Neko Atsume out.
It’s a simple game to play just for fun and you play on your own. I usually use it when I’m bored or just want something to do to pass the time. My favorite part is when cats visit your yard and you get to name them. Cats also leave you money in the form of fish, which you spend on toys for them.
The cats are happy when you buy them toys and food and that’s rather satisfying. Playing time lasts for a maximum of 10 minutes because all you need to do is refill the cats’ food, collect the money, and check on your cats. A couple of my friends play it and we trade advice on things to buy or just talk about the cats that have visited.
Other apps like Snapchat or Pinterest are more addictive but Neko Atsume does give you an option to turn on post notifications, which could be distracting if I had them on. Neko Atsume is free in the App Store but there is one type of in-app purchase where you can buy gold fish or money.
I have spent $2 on Neko Atsume, but some of my friends have spent more. It can be fun to play without purchases but the money does help you earn more cats faster. The more money you have, the more expensive things you can buy, and specialty cats will come and leave even more money. All in all, I think Neko Atsume is a cute and fun game to play for all ages.
