Allison Jaynes is a concerned parent. Her local school district, Congers Elementary School, is being closed next year despite a resolution to pass a $6.5 Million bond to keep the doors open. This closure directly effects her family, so naturally she decided to email the school board and make some suggestions on what to do with the 7th graders that are forced to relocate.
That’s when the gossip wheel started.
The offender in question is Trustee Chris Conti, who initially forwarded the email to his personal account and then sent it on to unknown person(s). A few hours later the email got in front of another parent, Allison Savoury-Leuser, who decided it was a good idea to post it to the public Facebook group “You Know You’re a Congers Congeroid…”
Naturally Jaynes was outraged. The email contained her children’s names and grades and she had sent the email in confidence.
The irony of this story is that Conti, a former teacher, campaigned for the position on the promise that he would “end the politicking and bring the focus back on the students.”
Unfortunately I don’t think this was the “focus” parents had in mind.
