How can parents thrive teachers? Every mom and dad has had plenty of moments of self doubt when it comes to best raising our kids. But a new app called Vroom gives parents key insights, information and activities needed to gain confidence in themselves. The premise of the new website and free app is that we all already have what it takes to work as our child’s ultimate brain builder. Focusing on the first five years of life, the site gives parents the hands-on tools, insights and activities to best connect with and encourage the child’s growing mind.
The ideas are simple, science-backed and geared towards busy parents (Did you know the brain develops fastest in the first five years of life, reaching 92% of adult brain size by the time kids are 5?). The underlying premise is a powerful one: That as parents, if we recognize the power and importance of interacting with our kids during everyday activities — meal time, bath time, driving time — we can better connect and contribute to the brain’s amazing growth spurt.
With a focus on connecting, talking, observing and reflecting our kids, Vroom gives easy-to-use strategies to put it into action. Its Daily Vroom ideas can be targeted to your kids age and include ideas as basic as “observe your child for three minutes – pay attention to what they’re paying attention to.” Sounds simple, but the power of truly giving three minutes of your attention to your child is huge.
