Earlier this year, we saw a huge debate in the parenting community about kids and chores. Articles like this one about the long-term benefits of having kids helping around the house got huge play, with some experts weighing in that all the dishwasher loading and clothes folding should not be compensated monetarily.
This week, a surprising new study came out claiming that 50% (as in HALF) of all UK parents have paid their kids for “digital chores.” Among those tech tasks listed were: Setting up a new mobile phone, uploading photos to social media, recording TV shows and — wait for it — creating online dating profiles for their parents.
Yep. In many British households parents are swapping out traditional household chores like taking out the trash and raking leaves for tech tasks. And many of them say they’ve paid upwards of $25 for a single job.
